DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The department has a recognized research centre and has been successful in receiving many grants for student’s projects under KSCST, the government of Karnataka. Following our vision and mission, we aim to deliver the best to our students, to society and the nation. The department has a strong focus in the research areas of Structural Engineering, Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. The Department is also involved in R&D work, offers consultancy services and conduct training programmes for students and non-government organizations. The faculty continually strives for the best of knowledge by exploring new frontiers, imparting the latest technical knowledge to the students and conducting high quality of research. With an equal focus on the overall development of the students, they are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Advanced Research in Environment and Water Resources

Currently, the department having COE in which doctorate faculties with the expertise in environmental engineering and water resources are involving and guiling students.

TRAINING PLATFORMS

The Centre of Excellence at the Civil Engineering department is actively involved in finding solutions to Water Resources and Environmental Engineering areas. The three-doctorate faculty and other energetic and skilled faculty are working actively in projects and publication and finding solutions. Key areas of expertise of doctorate faculties are soft Computing, hydrological modeling, leaching studies, material characterization, waste valorization, life cycle assessment, environmental pollution studies, and remediation.

PLACEMENTS & INTERNSHIPS

Department of Civil Engineering has consistently performed well in placing its students across different sectors in various industries. Students leverage wide experience created and facilitated by the department. They are encouraged and guided on taking up internships from the second year on a smaller scale with different organizations. In the third year they are exposed to internship project where a student gets a visible opportunity in understanding his / her key professional skills and interpersonal skills. The department organizes workshops, seminars and coordinates visits to industries and startups every semester. There are excellent opportunities for graduating students in varied fields such as smart cities infrastructure, network of highways, waterways, industrial and commercial structures, and “homes for all by 2022". We have long term associations with well-known organizations in Civil Engineering Industries including Bremer, Geodesic, FABS , Hi-Tech engineers.

The education at the Department of Civil Engineering at the Atria Institute of technology is always keen to find new ways of developing outcome-based education. The Department is always committed to establish new research facilities and encourage new ideas. Center of Excellence of the Department, along with the Atria Business Innovation Center works together to support the innovative ideas of students right from the first semester of their study. The Department is enriched with faculty members specialized in all the areas of Civil Engineering i. e. from Soil Mechanics to Fluid Mechanics, Structure Engineering, Water Resources, Transportation, Environmental Engineering etc. They are actively involved in the research through participating in different seminars, workshops, conferences and publishing their work in various journals. The faculty of Civil Engineering is also actively involved in reviewing process of many eminent journal articles and publishing book chapters. Significant areas of research and challenges in different sub-streams of Civil engineering are highlighted to the students. The Department is also collaborated with IISc, Bengaluru and set up an air quality monitoring station in the college. Our students are eagerly working to find the solution of current societal problems.

Department is actively involved in students Training, Placement and development activities round the year, like Conferences, Workshops, Technical Training etc. It acts as a seamless conduit between the industry and the institute and provides quality technical manpower to suit every organizational need. Through Faculty Development Programme’s, workshops, seminars, etc., our faculty members gain first-hand knowledge of the industry requirements and accordingly, our students get groomed in a manner that they are ‘Industry Ready’ by the time they pass out.

  • A guest lecture with S.V Raghavendra, Director-Sree Vinayaka Build Well Projects Pvt Ltd was organised on “Recent trends in Rehabilitation & Retrofitting of Concrete Structures”
  • Department organized one day workshop on “Building Information Modeling” by an authorised centre's Industry Expert for the final year and pre final year students.
  • One day workshop on “AutoCAD 2D: Latest Version Software” by Industry Expert for second year students was organised.
  • A two-days workshop on “Optimization techniques in Civil Engineering” was delivered by Prof. Paresh Chandra Deka.
  • Department organized PM Empower, two week student development programme in association with PMI Bangalore Chapter.
  • A two weeks Extensive Survey Camp at Kaiwara using total station was arranged by the department.
