DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2000 . The present UG intake is 180 and the department also offers M.Tech. in Artifical Intelligence & Machine Learning with an intake of 24. The department has well-qualified faculty members and it offers subjects relevant to current industrial needs. Our faculty brings state-of-the-art research, development and design experience into the classroom. The department is equipped with adequate classrooms, department library, multiple laboratories, seminar hall and conference hall. Students have a wide career opportunity in industry, research, services; or they can launch their start-ups (Atria Business Incubation Centre opportunity). Over the years, the graduating students have gone on to occupy key positions in education, science, industry and government administration in India and abroad. In the future, the department plans to extend its research into new areas like Biomedical Signal and Image Processing, Internet of Things and Smart Devices.

  • Well qualified and experienced faculty from reputed institutes.
  • Multiple laboratories in accordance with VTU curriculum for the practical exposure of the Electronics and Communication Engineering branch.
  • Center of Excellence (CoE) for the Internet of Things (IoT) is available for students to explore their creative minds, develop solutions on Industrial IoT Gateway, self-sustainable hydroponics monitoring systems, Smart Campus Solutions, etc
  • A dedicated group of cluster research faculties train students beyond classroom teachings as per the industry requirements like VLSI, Embedded, Signal Processing and Communication, Internet of Things(IOT).
  • Department has active professional student bodies like IETE, IEEE, ISTE.
  • Department has FUSE Student Society which conducts various technical/non-technical activities such as paper presentation, poster presentation, the seminar on the latest technologies for the exposure of students.
  • Conducting guest lectures by industry and academic experts is a regular practice followed by the department.
  • Students are also encouraged and supported for the preparation for GATE/GRE/PSUs examination other than their routine studies.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

  • PEO 1: Tackle complex engineering problems with the sound knowledge of electronics and communication engineering.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)

  • PSO 1: Apply concepts and principles from Applied Mechanics to design, develop and evaluate Mechanical components or systems including Robotics drives for a specified purpose using computational tools.
  • PSO 2: Create Mechanical systems using energy conversion edifices governing laws of Thermodynamics, Heat transfer, Fluid Power and Computation fluid dynamics along with their embedded controllers as per requirements and specifications.
  • PSO 3: Utilizing the knowledge and learning of materials and manufacturing and Nano sciences to design, plan and monitor production operations in an industry emphasizing Additive manufacturing, Digital mechatronics, Total quality, Managerial aspects in improvement of life cycle of a product / system keeping environmental considerations.
